It’s Not About Having the Right Opportunities…

Updates from Marvin Montgomery
Sales Tip #549 From The Sales Doctor
“It’s not about having the right opportunities. It’s about handling the opportunities right.”
– Mark Hunter
I believe there is a right and wrong way to handle every sales opportunity. The wrong way is telling and talking them into your product or service.

The right way is asking questions, actively listening, and then providing a customized solution.

Which way do you handle your opportunities?

Basco Price Increase Notice

As a result of recent increases in raw materials, Basco will be implementing a price increase across the majority of its product lines. In this atmosphere of rising raw material costs, we have worked diligently to absorb as much cost as possible through efficiencies in our business. Nevertheless, with recent supplier actions related to the pricing of aluminum, glass, packaging and petroleum-based products, we find it necessary to take this action.

Effective August 1, 2021, Basco will implement a 10% price increase. Orders received before close of business July 31, 2021 will receive the current pricing. We have attached the updated Basco Core & RODA price books, and they are also available on our website. We expect updated price books to be mailed in mid-July, so that you will have them by August 1.

Thank you as always for your continued loyalty and support of Basco. Should you have any questions in the interim, please contact your local representative or Regional Sales Manager.

Watermark 9/1 Increase & Temporary Hold on Custom Orders

We hope everyone is safe and looking forward to the summer. We are hearing great news from all of you about business rebounding in all areas, and the outlook for 2021 and beyond looks very promising.

As you know, the combination of COVID-19 and the sudden growth in our industry has been accompanied by challenges meeting demand for many suppliers. We too, have been impacted, but we are pushing to keep lead times from growing and working to complete and ship orders in the time-frames you are familiar with. In order to facilitate this, we are temporarily suspending all new “custom” orders requiring engineering development time. We will continue to be your go-to source for custom mix-and-match finishes, handles, levers, etc. Please contact us if you are unsure if your order falls into that category.

Also, historically we have had a price increase about every two years, and staying true to that schedule, we had an increase slated for January 2022. However, the increase in demand for raw materials, labor, and freight has also resulted in ever-increasing cost pressures for all of us. In order to keep up with these rising costs and maintain the quality and timely delivery of our products, we are implementing a price increase of approximately 8% (varying slightly by product) effective September 1, 2021. A spreadsheet of the new prices and a PDF of the catalogues are available and can be found by clicking here. Please know that we have done our best to minimize the price change and have already absorbed much of the cost ourselves.

Fairmont July 1 Updated Phase Out Inventory list and Sale Sheet

Please find in the attachments the updated “Fairmont Sale” Sheet. Items listed on this sheet are mostly clearance items and are priced at a reduced net cost.

I have also attached the latest copy of Fairmont’s  “Phase Out Inventory” list (no special discount-just an inventory list).

Fairmont Designs will be closed on Monday in observance for Independence Day.

Bertch Kitchen Hardware

This email is intended for all Kitchen+, Marketplace and Bath dealers that order Kitchen+ hardware.

Effective September 1, 2021, hardware, knobs and pulls, will no longer be available from Bertch on Kitchen+ and Marketplace orders. For more information, please read the attached letter, detailing our decision to remove hardware from our kitchen lines.

Waterworks Valve Updates

I know there was some concerns about valve availability a little while back. I just received this update for some ETAs and possible work-arounds where the lead times are extensive. Hope this helps.

I wanted to share information on all of our delayed/backordered roughs valves.  I also provided workarounds. Please see below:

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Volume Controls:

GUVC16 Counterclockwise – Out of stock, but we have some in transit to us that just shipped out via air shipping. Should have stock in the next few weeks. If client needs Asap, send a guvc17 and a cartridge(40-52336-34644). We only have 7 of these cartridges available.   We have more of the second item number for it, in transit(26-10851-72370). So if we run out of the 40-52336-34644, the client can still install the GUVC17 and the handle will just open clockwise.  At a later that, they can be shipped a 26-10851-72370 to make their handle open properly.

GUVC17 Clockwise – Over 350 in stock.

GUVC18 Counterclockwise – We have some in transit to us that just shipped out via air shipping. Should have stock in the next few weeks.

GUVC19 Clockwise – We have some in transit to us that just shipped out via air shipping. Should have stock in the next few weeks.

*Both of these are in transit together.

If the client needs the GUVC18 and GUVC19 right away, they can use the GUVC17 or GUV16 alternative above. The plumber would just need to use a reducer to install the 3/4″ volume controls to their 1/2″ piping.

Rough for Wall mounted faucets:

GULV27(Used with Cross or Wheel Handle Lavatory Faucet) – The item number was just updated to a new one in our system.  Please use item # 26-70940-94489 when ordering, not 26-21988-67977.

*Some of our kit faucets, still will add the old item number to the order.  Please be cautious when entering these wall mounted faucet kits.  You might need to enter just the components and exchange it out for the new item number listed above. PD and IM are working on getting this corrected.

GUTH71, GUTH72 and GUTH73s:

GUTH71 – Universal 1/2″ Thermostatic Valve with Integrated Volume Control Valve – These are backordered and they do not have an exact date on when these will be in. A workaround would be to order a GUTH56(26-50123-12619) and a GUVC18(26-03622-54601). Keep in mind, we do not have the GUVC18s in stock for a few weeks and you would need to use the work around for that item. The substituted valves must be installed with a distance of 5 7/8″s apart from the centerline of one spline to the centerline of the other spline.  This is indicated on the attached document.

GUTH72 – Universal 1/2″ Thermostatic Valve with Integrated Two Way Diverter with Shutoff Valve – We have 20 on hand, but there are 21 open orders.  We do not have an exact date of when these will be in next.  A work around would be to order a GUTH56(26-50123-12619) and a GUDV14(26-79186-91093). The substituted valves must be installed with a distance of 5 7/8″s apart from the centerline of one spline to the centerline of the other spline.  This is indicated on the attached document.

GUTH73 – Universal 1/2″ Thermostatic Valve with Integrated Three Way Diverter with Shutoff Valve – We have 12 of these in stock.
